Packaging Mid Sweden

Packaging Mid Sweden is an innovation cluster striving for new creative and innovative packaging solutions. The cluster consists of some 30 companies and organizations, with a common focus on developing new innovations primarily based on renewable fiber materials. Packaging Mid Sweden constitutes a platform for renewal of products and services and is constantly striving to develop the communicative, user-friendly and functional packaging for the future.

The cluster’s curiosity, high competence and experience of design, electronics and material development make Packaging Mid Sweden unique on the market. A strong connection between research at Mid Sweden University, member companies and other specialists within the network implies an accelerated development of new applications and
business.

The purpose of the different activities within Packaging Mid Sweden is to support the member organizations through business development and by initiating new R&D projects. Packaging Mid Sweden is stimulating the generation of new ideas and within the network, companies as well as innovators have the opportunity to realize them. Packaging Mid Sweden can help you to find business partners on a regional, national as well as an international level.

MaterialAteljén

MaterialAteljén is Packaging Mid Sweden’s material studio, a place where designers, engineers, researchers and students can get in contact with traditional as well as new innovative packaging materials, such as cellulose fibrers, glass, plastics, composites or various coated substrates. MaterialAteljén is also a meeting point where the industry and academia meet to share knowledge and to initiate new projects. In the studio, is possible to see, feel and learn about packaging materials and applications. Material Ateljén is located in the office building of Packaging Mid Sweden.

International Cooperation

Packaging Mid Sweden and Mid Sweden University has a Memorandum of Understanding with China Packaging Federation. The aim of the agreement is to strengthen the cooperation between packaging industry in China and Sweden.

In Japan, Packaging Mid Sweden is establishing cooperation with Japanese organizations. The intent is to create business opportunities, joint projects and promote interchange of research results. Mid Sweden University has an establishing collaboration with Chiba University. One successful project is “National dish” where students from both universities create packaging design concepts to national dishes.

Furthermore, Packaging Mid Sweden and Mid Sweden University has established cooperation in Korea, with the Kookmin University and several Korean companies.

Packaging Mid Sweden is a member of Invest Packaging & Fiber (Invest Sweden), a consortium consisting of several Swedish distinguished packaging organizations with purpose to initiate international collaboration, strategic alliances and joint ventures to stimulate economical growth within Swedish packaging and fiber based industries.
